OPERATIONS CONTROL AND HANGAR QUEENS REPORT
2) WHERE IS THIS DATA FROM?
DOT/FAA, Domestic ONLY, what a tail did each day for the month.
3) THE TIME IS WRONG?
All times are converted to Eastern time so that the flights lengths are consistent.
4) WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT COLORS?
Blue is an operated flight. Light blue means the flight crosses into another day. Green is the time the flight was scheduled to operate. Light green flights cross over into another day. Red is the scheduled time for a flight that operated more than 15 minutes late or cancelled. Light red cross over into the next day.
5) WHY ARE THERE OVERLAPS?
A plane may be schedule to operate one flight and then fly another. A "swap". This may cause boxes to overlap each other.
9) WHAT ARE THE GAPS?
We only have data for domestic flights, international flights will show as gaps.
10) SOME LOOK WEIRD, WHY?
Things that "look weird" are either cancelled flights or aircraft swaps.
11) WHAT IS A HANGAR QUEEN?
This is a common airline term for a plane that spends an inordinate amount of time in repair or otherwise broken. In vehicles the term "lemon" is analogous.
