INTL FLIGHT DETECTIVE
4) WHY THESE FLIGHTS/WHY NOT OTHER FLIGHTS?
6) WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS DATA?
7) WHY DOES A FLIGHT APPEAR ONE DAY AND NOT ANOTHER?
8) WHAT AIRLINES ARE INCLUDED?
10) WHAT IS THE POLICY ON SHARING/RELEASING DATA FROM THIS REPORT?
2) WHAT IS INCLUDED?
The report is intended to show real-time loads for international arrivals into the United States from a day or two earlier in as accurate a way as possible. The flights will change from day to day depending on data availability. This data is not taken from airline websites or GDS, but from publicly available transmissions and data feeds that are not consistently available for every flight.
3) HOW DO I READ THE DATA?
The routes captured for the report date are shown.
INTL ROUTE : Non-stop route origin and destination with the destination always in the United States. Routes are sorted by arrival airport.
AL FLIGHT : The IATA airline code for the airline joined to the flight number
AL : The IATA airline code for the airline
SKD DEP : The scheduled local departure time from the origin airport
SKD ARR : The scheduled local arrival time to the destination airport
SKD EQP : The scheduled equipment type
NOW TOB : The number of passengers onboard (Total OnBoard=TOB) the plane for the report date. It is possible this number could include non-revenue passengers.
LY TOB : The number of passengers onboard (Total OnBoard=TOB) the plane for the same month a year earlier if available.
NOW LF : The percent of seats filled based on the number of seats we have shown for the scheduled aircraft. The load factor could exceed 100% for the following reasons: equipment substitution, incorrect seating information for the aircraft, or data corruption in the process that is beyond our control.
LY LF : The percent of seats filled based on the number of seats we have shown for the scheduled aircraft for the same month a year earlier. The load factor could exceed 100% for the following reasons: equipment substitution, incorrect seating information for the aircraft, or data corruption in the process that is beyond our control. In general, the year earlier data has more accurate seating information than the real-time data.
NOW RES : The percentage of passengers on the plane for the report date that are U.S. residents. The remainder are visitors.
NOW FRQ : The number of flights scheduled to operate in the last 7 days. 7 would indicate daily service. Note that this is not an indication that load data could be captured for these other days.
4) WHY THESE FLIGHTS/WHY NOT OTHER FLIGHTS?
The data for all flights with real-time load data for the report data are shown. In the future there may or may not be more flights available, but there is no way to add a flight by request. As of now, only the flights shown are available to us.
5) IS DOMESTIC AVAILABLE?
At this time the calculation method we are using only works for international flights.
6) WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS DATA?
Presentation of this data is fairly ground-breaking as we are not aware of this data being available anywhere else, so we are not going to release the exact method for obtaining the data. The sources are DOT, DHS, and other publicly available data transmissions. No data is captured for this process from airline reservation systems, GDS scraping, or directly from employees of airlines, airports, or the government. All the data used is available to anybody if you know where to look.
7) WHY DOES A FLIGHT APPEAR ONE DAY AND NOT ANOTHER?
The process for capturing the data means that essentially it's nearly random which flights we will have data for on a given day. Some flights appear nearly every day, while others appear very infrequently.
8) WHAT AIRLINES ARE INCLUDED?
Any scheduled international arrival into the USA may be included if data is available.
9) HOW ACCURATE IS THE DATA?
The seating data we use for flights from this week is not 100% accurate, so the load factor calculations for the current year can be inaccurate. The total onboard passengers (TOB) is much more accurate. In comparing to historical actual data we found a 95% correlation. Having said that, there are cases where reported data is clearly wrong, either too high or too low. It appears those are situations where the flight airline/number was not correctly obtained in the source data. We apologize for those situations.
10) WHAT IS THE POLICY ON SHARING/RELEASING DATA FROM THIS REPORT?
Sharing, emailing, transferring, copying, posting any data from this report with a non-subscriber to the Enilria INTL Tier or Above is forbidden. Subscribers may only make general reference such as "according to the Enilria.com site those flights look pretty full/empty".
11) WILL THIS DATA BE AVAILABLE IN THE FUTURE?
As with any of the data or reports on the Enilria site, any report may disappear at any time due to data availability. There is no guarantee this report will be available beyond what has already been published.
12) I DON'T BELIEVE RESIDENTS WERE 0% ON THIS ROUTE?
It appears that 0% can appear for two reasons. First, the flight contains 0 residents or Second, that no data was available on residency for the flight. So, 0% may also mean no data was available.
